The results showed that all treatments with red mud addition could significantly decrease the concentrations of HOAc-soluble Pb and Zn. Compared with the control, the treatment with 5% red mud addition could significantly decrease the concentrations of HOAc soluble Pb and Zn after 1, 2 and 3 months incubation (62.5%, 65.3% and 73.5% decrease, 56.7%, 65.8% and 67.4% decrease, for Pb and Zn, respectively). After 3 months incubation, the treatment with 1% red mud addition significantly decreased the concentration of bio-accessible Pb, however, all treatments including 1%, 2% and 5% red mud addition, significantly decreased the concentration of bio-accessible Zn. The results highlighted the potential of red mud amendments to reduce Pb and Zn bioavailability in contaminated soil. %K soil %K Pb %K Zn %K red mud %K fractionation %K bio-accessibility
