%X The influence of manganese ion on oxidation of calcium sulfite has been researched in a batch agitated tank which diameter was 280 mm and height was 320 mm. The concentration of manganese ion added was between 0 to 0.05 mol/L.The experimental results indicated that the addition of manganese ion could change the mechanism and the process of oxidation, which represented the changes of oxidation rate and oxidation ratio of calcium sulfite. When manganese ion concentration was 0.05 mol/L, the oxidation rate of calcium sulfite was 30% higher than that of none manganese ion. Besides, the existence of manganese ion could keep the oxidation rate of calcium sulfite on a high level in wider ranges of time(20~100 min) and calcium sulfite concentration(0.02~0.073 mol/L).
