%X Five different extracellular polymeric substances extraction methods were studied on the same sludge under anaerobic and aerobic conditions.Results showed that NaOH extraction gave the greatest EPS yield,while it released intracellular substances.Cation exchange resin(CER) and centrifugation extraction were gentle methods,while they gave low EPS yield.Formaldehyde-NaOH and sulfuric acid extraction gave higher EPS yield and less extensive cellular disruption,therefore they were most effective in extracting E...
