%X The principle, structure and recent development of fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOGs) are presented. At the same time, an idea of using FOGs instead of mechanical gyros and ring laser gyros in satellites for attitude control is proposed, so that the problems of difficult maintenance and terrible stability of traditional mechanical gyros are overcome.
