A practical airborne natural gas pipeline inspection laser radar which is based on tunable diode laser spectroscopy was developed. The operating principle of this instrument was introduced, the system configuration and method of design were discussed. The key technologies including high-accuracy laser frequency stabilization and real time calibration were further discussed.
