%X A heterocycle, 4-[(1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylimino)methyl]phenyl dodecanoate, was synthesized and its IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis and MS spectroscopic data are presented. This new compound exhibited smectic A phase.
