%X This paper describes simply the process of diffusion experiment of instantaneous point source of tracer in the coastal water off Qingdao. The results of the experiments indi cate that the concentration and dilution factor decreases with diffusion time, and the diffusion variance increases with diffusion time to the power of 2.52, and the diffusion coefficient increases with the patch size to the power of 1.35. The horizontal and vertical distributions of the tracer are also described. It is suggested that the diffusion capacity of the coastal water off Qingdao is considerably high.
