%X Dye printing wastewater from a local bleaching and dyeing enterprise in the East river basin underwent advanced treatment via composite dosing of nano-scale iron and polyaluminum chloride (PACl) coagulants by the Multi-Media Filtration Process. The results show that the new coagulant HPAC-9 has strong ability to remove polar organic matter,but is unfavorable for non-,or weakly polar organics. Composite dosing of nano-scale iron enhanced organic removal from dye printing wastewater,and emission of biorefractory organic pollutants was largely reduced,verifying the feasibility of nano-scale iron composite dosing in advanced treatment of refractory organic pollutants of dye printing wastewater by the coagulation-sedimentation-multi media filtration process. It is also concluded that the dosage of nanoscale iron should be maintained at a very small level in case excess Fe2+ ions are formed due to the dissolution of Fe0,which will cause a color increase in the process effluents because of the slow oxidization of ferrous ions during storage.
