Four strains of thermophilic cellulose-decomposing fungi were isolated from composts of different substrates, and they could use carboxymethyl cellulose Na (CMC-Na) or tobacco stem powder as sole carbon source. The strains could overgrow in CMC Na-Congo red medium and tobacco stem powder medium within 2~5 days. In liquid medium, the strains produced the highest CMCase activity after 2 days inoculation, which reached 10U. They could decompose tobacco stems, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin in the tobacco stems by 42.2%, 52.7%, 47.9% and 37.6%, respectively, within 7 days. %K cellulose-decomposing fungi %K decompose %K tobscco stems %K cellulose %K hemicellulose %K lignin
