%X The Three Gorges reservoir area (Chongqing) is a typical channel reservoir,an ecologically fragile zone, and relatively poor in its natural ecosystem conditions. To promote sustainable development in the reservoir area and protection of its ecological security, the ecosystem's health status and its stress factors need to be clarified.According to the characteristics of the local ecological system,a natural-social-economic health evaluation index system of the complex ecosystem was constructed. And on the basis of the grey system theory, the Jaynes maximum entropy principle in information theory was introduced to evaluate the ecosystem health of the Three Gorges reservoir area (Chongqing). The results show that the Three Gorges reservoir area (Chongqing) ecosystem remains in a transitional stage of rapid change. The functions of production, regulation and services are significantly different. The health condition of the eastern section of the Three Gorges reservoir area (Chongqing) ecosystem is better than the western section, but the interior of the eastern ecosystem is apparently different and has complex structure.Corresponding measures are proposed to solve the problems above.
