%X Laboratory tests were conducted for removal of SO2 from simulated flue gas and simultaneous treatment of wastewater from a blast furnace,by pulsed corona discharge specifically from 2# Blast Furnace of Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation. Pulsed corona discharge was conducted using a new kind of reactor with a needle-needle electrode designed for this research. The influence of spray water,cycle index,L/G ratio (the ratio between wastewater spay quantity and flue gas flow) and applied pulsed voltage on the removal ratio of sulphur dioxide are considered. The effects of pulsed corona discharge and SO2 on the removal ratio of cyanide were also studied. Results showed that the wastewater from the blast furnace has excellent desulphurization ability and the pulsed corona discharge plasma can enhance the desulphurization efficiency. It was also observed that the SO2 removal ratio decreased along with increased cycle index. There is an optimal value of L/G for the SO2 removal ratio. The content of sulphate ion produced in the wastewater increased with the increment of applied pulsed voltage,cycle index,and the flux of flue gas. Furthermore,the removal rate of cyanide in the wastewater from the blast furnace can reach 99.9% with a residence time of 2.1s in the pulsed corona zone during the desulphurization process.
