%X FCASM2-HYDRO is applied for numerical simulation of A2/O processes in Deqing Shishan wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in order to mathematically determine the optimum operating conditions. The simulation equations of the anaerobic tank, anoxic tank and aerobic tank are deduced according to the coupled model for FCASM2-HYDRO. The model was solved by finite element method and a simulation program was established using MATLAB. The simulation determined the influence on waste water treatment of changing conditions such as technical parameters, flux or COD:N:Pratio. The simulation results show that the optimal parameters for the A2/O process are as follows: sludge return rate should be 50%; mixed liquor return rate should be 100% and sludge retention time should be 15d. The simulation result also showed that a COD:NH4+-N:PO43--Pratio of 100:8:1 is preferred.
