It was found that the resistance was pH dependent and was positively influenced by certain sulfhydryl compounds and Mg2+ and negatively influenced by Zn2+. The results also indicated that the strain was able to uptake different quantities of mercury depending on the type of medium used and was able to release it to the medium or phosphate buffer solution without mercury afterwards. The morphological study by scanning electron microscope and ultrastructure revealed that the conidia swelled significantly before germination and cell wall, nucleus and chondriosome all appeared to be irregular with the presence of mercury. %K Cephalosporium tabacinum F2 %K mercuric chloride %K resistaace
