%X To overcome the shortcomings in immobilized Methanosarcina using PVA as the entrapment matrix, a combined adsorption and entrapment was conducted to immobilize Methanosarcina. The characteristics of the immobilized Methanosarcina were demonstrated using UASB with defined and soybean cake wastewater. The results indicated that the combined adsorption and entrapment method with immobilize Methanosarcina gives a good performance of precipitating and degassing, which overcomes the defaults of the single entrapment method.
