%X Desorption of oil on sediment was classified into equilibrium and completion desorptions. Several physical conceptions were defined to describe the desorption characteristic. They are equilibrium desorption content,maximum desorption contend and limit remnant content. For the equilibrium desorption,the adsorption isotherms were determined and the effect of water consumption on the equilibrium desorption content of oil were studied. For completion desorption,the maximum desorption content and limit remnant content were analyzed,and the relations between them and the particle size of sediment were revealed.
