%X The pollutional condition and the temporal-spatial variation of airborne par-ticulates in different seasons and at different heights in Lanzhou City were studies. By using a high-altitude balloon carried with sampler for samping. The concentration of air-borne particulates, the concentration of organic substances in airborne particulates and their induced mutagenicities have been taken as indices. The potential defect on the health of the high building dweller was also studied, and the appropriate measures of prevention and control were put forward
