%X The kinetics of desorption and degradation processes of soil organic carbon from soil and sediment were simulated and modeled.The release of soil organic carbon can be divided into two processes (desorption and degradation)which follow typical first order kinetics with different time scales.The rate constants and equilibrium contents of soil organic carbon desorption are affected by flow rate.Soil moisture and temperature are two major factors influencing the degradation of insoluble organic carbon.Moist condition and high temperature can accelerate the degradation process.
