%X The driving pattern was studied in Hong Kong along two representative routes using a test van equipped with all the instruments required for recording traffic modes and measuring exhaust emissions of the van.A real\|run based driving cycle has thus been developed to simulate actual driving conditions with respect to exhaust emissions.In comparison with the existing driving cycles of developed countries,the driving cycle has significantly different average speed and relative time spent under acceleration and deceleration.The cycle may be used as a standardized method to evaluate emission level of vehicles and automobile engines and effect of various measures on its improvement.
