%X In order to assess the dominant microbial communities in the polluted water of the Dianchi Lake, terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) technique was used to analyze the characteristics and diversity of bacterial communities in nine sites. Clustering analysis based on the T-RFLP profiles showed that the bacterial community structures varies considerably, which may be caused by the pollutant variation at different geographic locations. According to the further analysis of T-RFLP profiles with clone library technique, the dominant bacteria groups in nine sites represented by distinctive terminal restriction fragments (T-RFs) were identified as genera of Pseudomonas, Aphanizomenon and Rhodobacter.
