The growth of algae concentration was characterized by counting method. The releasing characteristic of extracellular organic matters (EOMs) was analyzed by DOC, EEM, and spectroscopy methods. At different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrition, Nostoc flagelliforme exhibited a same growth period basically. Nitrogen is the key factor to controlling the growth of Nostoc flagelliforme, compared with phosphate. The increasing of the nitrogen concentration enhanced the concentration of EOMs; the increasing of the phosphate concentration was not good for the releasing of EOMs. Nitrogen is also the key factor to controlling the releasing of EOMs by Nostoc flagelliforme. By the analysis of EEMs, when phosphate was the controlling factor, the main EOMs was amino acid-like and fulvic acid-like organic substances; when nitrogen was the controlling factor, the main EOMs was amino acid-like organic substances. As main components, the concentration of carbohydrate was much lower than that of protein. %K phosphorus %K nitrogen %K nutrition salts %K Nostoc flagelliforme %K extracellular organic matter
