%X The primary intent of this work is to explore biochemical degradability of PVA in natural water and soil, where it will be mineralised and the matter structure transformed. It is showed in the experiments that mineralization rate of PVA was as high as 50-70% through microbial conversion, in which macromolecules were decomposed to be low molecular inorganics. The results demonstrate that PVA will not accumulate in natural water or soil, and PVA wastewater can be treated by biochemical method.
