%X Trace phenol was determined by measuring phenol-quenched light emission from luminol oxidation by hydrogen peroxide.The detection limit was 200 ppb. A linear response was observed with the concentration of phenol ranging from 2.0×10-6 mol/L to 2.0×10-4 mol/L. The method was successfully applied to the analysis of several waste water samples.
