%X An analysis of unconstrained elastic recovery of viscoelatic fluids following the release of stress is presented and a new equation relating die swell ratio to recoverable shear strain is developed. The prediction from the new equation was compared with the experimental data and with the theories of Graessley et al. and Tanner.
