%X For the detection of shot boundary in a video sequence,the selection of a proper threshold for computing discontinuity values is an important and difficult problem. A formula for calculating discontinuity values is defined, then a new Gaussian model based technique is proposed, which needs not setting low boundary threshold. It is a kind of improvement of twin-comparison method. experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method enables to locate boundaries of transitions and cuts exactly and quickly.
