This compressor consists of a comb-like dispersion-profiled fiber (CDPF) and a Raman amplifier. Sections of the dispersion shifted fibers and single mode fibers are used as the CDPF and Raman gain medium. Tunable compression factor is achieved by controlling the pump power of the compressor for a given pulse train. The performance of the optical pulse compressor is demonstrated by a simulation method based on nonlinear Schrdinger equation. When propagating in the CDPF, optical pulse is compressed and amplified. The output pulse width could be tuned by controlling the power of Raman pump. A good linear relationship between the Raman pump power and the compression factor is achieved by optimizing the structure of the CDPF. %K Nonlinear fiber optics %K Optical pulse comPression %K CDPF %K Compression-factor-controllable compressor
