%X The curves of corrosion potential in soils vs.exposure time were inves tigated for two common used pipeline steels,X70 steel and 16Mn steel. According to the weight-loss tests and polarization curves,the comparison of t h e general corrosion rates between X70 steel and 16Mn steel was made.The results show that the corrosion potential of X70 steel is more positive by 20 mV than t hat of 16Mn steel,and general corrosion rate of X70 steel is obviously lower.In addition,the corrosion products on X70 steel are protective in short period.
