%X The sacrificial anode materials are functional materials with special electrochemical performances, which are widely used in recent years. The current status of the research on the sacrificial anodes is reviewed and the general features in chemical composition and properties of three kinds of commonly used sacrificial anode materials based on aluminum, zinc and magnesium are given respectively. Effects of alloying elements and impurities on characteristics of the materials are discussed and some new developments and applications of the sacrificial anodes are also introduced.
