%X The cause of degradation failure of sulfite and its prevention have been studied by simulative storage experiment.The results showed that the degradation failure for anticorrosion of sulfite was due to the autoxidation of aqueous sulfite during its storage. Water quality and pH value had little effect on the autoxidation. And adding of catalyst led to the decrease of its storage stability. It is concluded that the autoxidation of sulfite is based on free radical chain mechanism and can be prevented by adding free radical absorber.
