%X The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of carbon steel in flowing 3.5% NaCl solution was studied. The experimental results showed that: the Nyquist plots for carbon steel in flowing single or double phase solution were single capacitive loops. With increasing the flow velocity, corrosion reaction impedance (R f) decreased regularly,the corrosion rate of carbon steel increased markedly. When the flow velocity was above the critical flow velocity ,contraction phenomenon of Nyquist Plot in low frequency region was noticed. Under this condition,not only uniform corrosion rate of carbon steel increased sharply, but also localized corrosion on the surface of carbon steel happened obviously and heavily. If the solution was deaerated with nitrogen, R f became much higher than that under aeration condition at the same flow velocity, corrosion rate of carbon steel sharply decreased.
