%X The currents of cathodic protection(CP) sysytem were analysed into several parts, namely: currents along the protected equipments; currents from anodes to ground; and currents from ground to protected equipments. According to the electric field theory of stable currents, potential distribution modelling caused by these currents was studied separately, and the mathematical formulas had been derived to fit the buried pipeline or ground storage tanks in CP. The difference of modelling between pipeline and tank bottom, as well as the application of potential distribution modelling in optimization of CP designs are discussed.
