%X This paper discussed the feasibility of seawater utilization for industrial and agricultural purposes, and analyzed the main affecting factors on seawater utilization. The study results indicated that seawater desalinization was not only feasible on technology, but also reasonable on cost. It was recommended that seawater be used to substitute for fresh water by the way of directive utilization. In order to ease up the shortage of fresh water in coastal areas of China, it was suggested to develop techniques of seawater desalinization.
