%X Isolated nuclei of L. gerbilli were used to investigate the nuclear basic proteins. We found that onlv four kinds of histones (H4, H2A, H2B and H3) present in L. gerbilli; histone H1 was absent. When basic proteins extracted from whole cells were compared with those extracted from purified nuclei by electrophoresis, an acid-soluable basic protein (L component) was found existing in the kinetoplast.
