%X Since 1909, China has witnessed rapid development of geography as well as hard times of the subject. The geography in China has undergone four stages, namely the launch of contemporary geography, the founding of New China to the late 1970s, reform and opening up to the late 1990s, and the early 21st century. On the occasion of the centennial celebration of The Geographical Society of China, the author dedicates this article to the geographers who have made contributions to China and the world during the past 100 years.
