%X This article discusses the vertical distribution of birds in Taibai Mts. There are 170 species of breeding birds, among them 112 species are residents and 58 summer migrants. Considered the basic characters of ecological distribution, we divide them into 3 ecological types: The species distributing in narrow vertical region, in sub-vertical region and in general vertical region. According to the simillar index of breeding birds between two relevant small zones, and simillar index of the community. No use the method of gathcrablc mathematics to divide the distribution of birds into 4 vertical zones: Plain-lon hill zone (500-1200m), mid-hill zone (1200-2400m), high-hill zone (2400-3300m), hill-top zone (3300-3767m). Excepting the species in narrow vertical region, the two other ecological types all have the phenomena of ventical migration. This due to the important affected by climaty to distribution of birds.
