%X The education of geography should meet the needs of geog ra phical talents in the science of earth system and sustainable developm ent as well as the socio-economic development in China, especially mee t the needs of sustainable development strategy. Therefore, it is nece ssary to launch a comprehensive reform about the primary and advanced education of geography. Three countermeasures to achieve development with leaps and bounds in geographical education are further presented in this pap er: (1) in the background of earth system science and sustainable developm ent science, to establish a new system of geographical education in China; (2) on the premise of adaptation to national and international criterion, to standa rdize the classification of geographical knowledge system and geographic al curriculum system; and (3) on the premise of technical glossary cen sor, to normalize the terms of geographical advanced education.
