%X It has been confirmed by previous studies that intensive channel aggradation and water-stage rise have happened in the middle and lower reaches of the ChangJiang River during the postglacial period. In the study, a deductive analysis, based on the results of geological, geo-morphological and archaeological surveys, shows that these changes possibly resulted from sea level rise after the last glacial maximum. This is confirmed further by our simulation modelling on the impacts of postglacial sea-level change on the ChangJiang River. The simulating outputs provide a reasonable explanation to the channel headward aggradation, water-stage rise, development of the Jinjiang meander and to the origin of the lakes along the river.
