%X The method of remote sensing aerosol optical depth with GMS-5 visible and near-infrared channel over lakes is discussed and validated by the result of sun-photometer observed simultaneously with GMS-5 near five lakes. Then aerosol optical depths over 25 lakes are remotely sensed by GMS-5 using the validated method. The result shows that remote sensing aerosol over lakes is a useful method to remote sensing aerosols over land.
