%X A novel OADM structure using fiber gratings and circulators is proposed. The structure is simple and reconfigurable, and appropriate for uni-directional amplification. With the present novel OADM, a scheme which can provide a protection to a DNI ring network is introduced. The feasibility of this OADM for protecting the data traffic in single-fiber bidirectional WDM ring networks is studied.
