%X In this paper the geographical background, the water quality characteristics such as water mineralization, basic hydro-chemical type and total hardness in the west Sichuan and north Yunnan, where located the headwater area for transferring the water in south wet region to north dry region in China is located, were discussed in detail. Consequently, the result of water environment and water pollution analysis and evaluation were given. Though monitoring the environmental change it can provide advice for economizing water, disposing water pollution and protecting the ecological environment in the headwater area.
