%X In order to reduce energy consumption of nodes in the wireless ad hoc networks, a Power Control Algorithm based on Position of node (PCAP) is proposed. By analyzing the relationship between nodes, the Optimized Neighbor Set (ONS) of node is built. PCAP uses different power control policies for routing packets, control packets of MAC layer and other data packets. PCAP algorithm can reduce the energy consumption and guarantee the connectivity of network. The simulation results indicate that it can achieve well network performance, such as the throughput of MAC layer, dropped packets and end to end delay.
