%X With modern electronic equipment and anti-shooting development, the precision of all trackers and the quality of imaging has been a key issue. In this paper, an auto adjust focusing principle about ST16160 is introduced How to effectively realize auto adjust focusing without distance information is emphasized Image processing is used to deal with the image information In the experiment, video signal is gathered by video view card and saved in the computer memory firstly Image data is processed by acutance technology And grads operation is used to process image that has been saved in the memory.Statistics proved that the result of grads operation can be regarded as a criterion for judging position.In order to increase the speed of getting to perfect position, a threshold is set .If grads value excess it, Hill-Climbing Search method is suggested, otherwise fast research is adopted .So, an ideal auto adjust focusing is confirmed. Experiment proved this criterion could be used by static close image and far image at the same time.
