%X The initial corrosion behavior of A3 steel in waters of eutrophic east lake at Wuhan was studied using weight loss method and electrochemical techniques.The results showed that the corrosion currents of A3 steel reduced with the test time;the corrosion poteintials reduced first and then raised after,while the value of polarization resistances raised all along.The fact may tell us that the suface of electrode was in active state first;however,with the growth of a protective scale,by which the steel suface was gradually covered,and there with the corrosion rates were reduced;the electrochemical constant B of A3 steel in eutrophic waters was 23.6242 calculated by elctrochemical method.The corrosion products were analysed by XPS,and the main components were FeOOH, FeSO4,and organic products consisted of Fe3+,C,N and S.The value of Fe2+/Fe3+ by quantitative analysis was 0.24.
