%X Antimicrobial peptides distribute in a wide variety of organisms and show the multiple biological functions including broad-spectrum antibacterial, immune- modulating and inhibiting tumor activity, as well as exhibiting unique mechanism, which made antibacterial peptides a research focus in the field of gene engineering. It was reviewed on advances of general properties and gene engineering research of antimicrobial peptides. And their transgenic expression strategy and theoretical foundation were also discussed.
