%X It is imperative to exploit new energy,utilize resources reasonably,and protect eco-environment under the grievous situation of energy crisis,resources shortage,and environment pollution.Hydrogen energy is widely considered as an potential new energy in the future with the characteristic of being clean,high efficient,and reproducible.Biological hydrogen production,using reproducible resources,especially the waste from industry and agriculture,is a high biotechnology with great potentialities due to its high efficiency,low energy consumption,light pollution,and low cost.The status and progress of biological hydrogen production technology was summarized,and the strategies were proposed for exploitation biohydrogen energy in China to realize sustainable development of energy,resources,environment and economy.
