%X Visual observation was made on the severely corroded plates of spherical shell removed from one liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) spherical tank in a plant.Characteristics of cracking and blistering were analyzed by using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results showed that the failure of spherical tank was intimately correlated with the inclusion of strip MnS along with pearlite band in the substrate material and the content of H_2S contained in the LPG stored.
