%X The corrosion and corrosion inhibition technology for copper and its alloys in varies service environments were summerized in this artick. Emphases was given on applications of organic inhibitors and the relevant technologies. The benzotriazole and its ramifications were most widely used with high effiectiveness. Comparision to those formed from azoles the formation of self- assembled monolayers from S- alkyl thiosulfates onto copper and alkanethiol layers adsorbed on copper surfaces should be taken into account as the widely applicable corrosion inhibitors. The best way for applying inhibitors was to select several effective inhibitors to produce a mixed compound, thereby the compound inhibitor might exhibit as multifunctional inhibitor for Cu and its alloys.
