%X In this paper, an in situ surface composite pipe of Al-Ni alloy, with Al3Ni-rich layer accumulated in inner layer, a litter in outer layer and free in middle layer, has been produced by means of unidirectional solidification in a rotating electromagnetic field. The results observed with scanning electron microscope show that the separated layers are composed of the primary phases accumulating mechanically and growing in a preferred orientation. The joint strength was investigated by Material Testing Systems (MTS810) and the corrosion characteristics were also analyzed.
