%X Mechanisms and erosion resistance of pressless (PL) sintered SiC, hot-pressed (HP)SiC, hot-isostatic-pressed (HIP) SiC ceramics are discussed in this paper. SEM observations of their microstructure and erosion sudeces are employed to analysis their erosion. Improved mechanical properties and fine grain size make the HIP SiC ceramic more resistant to erosion wear than the other two SiC ceramics.The major part of the paper concentrates on the different surface microstructure of the tested three ceramics and the effect of the microstructure on erosion.
