%X Mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of hop metals espeCially the slip andtwinning behavior in Ti are summarized. sume new progress in fatigue study on Ti is rePOrted. Theorientation dependence of slip and twinning is emphasized. It is indicated that the dependence of hcp metalswhich choose prismatic slip as their main deformation mode is quite distinct from that of hop metals whichchoose hasal slip as main mode. Further studies on the details of the orientation dependence should be carriedbut on single crystals of hcp metals.
