%X The present status of materials science and technology and trends of development were reviewed in this paper.There are three subjects:1.Materials fields of fast de-velopment,including materials for information technology,materials for energy systemsand effective usage of materials.2.Examples for frontiers of materials research,it includinghigh temperature superconductor,materials of low dimension,high strength materials,andbiomaterials.3.Trends of development of materials and some view-points for the devel-opment of materials science & technology are given in this review.
